"Unusual Pittsburgh pop [trio] whose music runs an insanely wide path, recalling everything from Blondie to the first White Noise album at various times. Quite a nice way to remake/remodel things by shifting them around right before our ears."
Byron Coley - The Wire Magazine
“ [T]his work inhabits a truly bizarre niche something like Cornelius’ early ensemble Flipper’s Guitar as fronted by Dorothy Moskvitch, chanteuse with Joseph Byrd’s flawed-but-high-reaching ensemble the United States of America.”
Julian Cope – Head Heritage
"The group’s amorphous mix of Lee Hazelwood, celluloid and trip hop is an overwhelming tour de force; shifting and progressing in a state of constant flux. Heaven On A Branch doesn’t really sound like anything else at present (Debbie Harry singing psychedelic arias over a mash up of Galaxie 500 and Moloko is close but still wide of the mark), and if there was any justice this album would be in every top list this year."
Dominic Valvona - Monolith Cocktail

Captain Kudzu
Rock
Captain Kudzu is the bizarre and amorphous creative output of Opelika, AL native Jackson Gafford, sometimes taking the form of a solo, loop based recording project, other times joined by the accompaniment of friends and members of Sun Eyes, Dogwood Lung, and Dommel Mosel. Almost psych-pop, almost shoegaze, almost post punk, almost electronic, Captain Kudzu is nothing in particular and everything you would want it to be, whilst still creating and existing within it's own unique world. Their debut album Arboretum is out now on Earth Libraries and available wherever music is streamed. Check it out.
