Rory D'Lasnow
Folk
Rory D’Lasnow is a singer-songwriter from New Jersey. From the first time his father brought out his guitar to comfort him as a baby, it was clear that a lifelong relationship with music was being forged. Though he initially feared the sound of the instrument, Rory soon picked up his father’s right handed guitar upside down and backwards and began to craft original songs. Despite never turning the guitar right-side up, Rory has cultivated a unique contemplative sound that has propelled him on to perform at some of the East Coast's most distinguished venues and festivals - from Mercury Lounge, Knitting Factory, The Bowery Electric, and Rockwood Music Hall - to Revolution Music Hall on Long Island, and House of Independents and The Saint on the Jersey Shore. He recently performed on the Atlantic City Beer & Music Festival acoustic stage for the Early November/Knuckle Puck session, has also had the honor of opening for featured headliners like American Idol winner Lee DeWyze, actor/musician Drake Bell, and John Corabi of Motley Crue/Dead Daisies fame, and has had songs licensed by MTV, NASCAR, and The Discovery Network. Rory's recent release, “An American Lie”, was lauded as “powerful” by American Songwriter with NJ.com noting that the song “gets it right”. His subsequent single "Happy" received international press and airplay on over 35 radio stations across North America. This year Rory released his new EP, entitled “Songs From An Empty Room”, with Hidden In Plain View guitarist/producer Rob Freeman (Gym Class Heroes, Armor For Sleep, Cobra Starship, Hit The Lights) and Grammy nominated mastering engineer Mike Kalajian (All Time Low, Circa Survive, Saosin, Straylight Run).
